Birth is a deeply personal experience and I truly believe a positive birth is less about how or where your baby arrives and more about how you feel throughout. You deserve to feel supported, held, heard, respected and empowered as you move through this incredible transition.

My role as your birth doula is to offer that care. To be a calm, reassuring presence by your side; a hand to hold, a steady voice of encouragement and a familiar face in the room. I provide continuous, non-judgemental emotional support whatever your preferences may be, helping you to navigate your maternity care, understand your options and feel confident in the choices you make for your family.

Birth has the potential to be the most magical, life changing, transformative event and my greatest wish is that you feel safe, informed and truly held as you bring your baby into the world.

When should i book?

When should i book?

You can book birth support at any stage in your pregnancy, but the earlier you do it the more likely I am to have availability for the entirety of your on call window. If you book later on and I'm only partially available I may need to work with a fellow doula to offer shared care.

I'm happy to tailor packages to your individual needs, but in general the birth support package includes:
  • 2 antenatal sessions (around 2 hours each) to cover your hopes, concerns and preferences for the birth, biomechanics and positioning, coping techniques and comfort measures, the physiology of childbirth.

  • Continuous support once labour is established, whether at home, in hospital or in a birth centre.
  • 2 or 4 postnatal visits (around 2 hours each) for debriefing the birth, emotional support and gentle help around the home. Additional postnatal visits can be arranged if you would like.

The whirlwind days and weeks after your baby is born are truly magical but they can be overwhelming.

My role as a postpartum doula is to support you through this drastic life change; to ensure you get adequate rest, build your confidence in caring for your little one, prioritise your own nourishment and recovery, help you make sense of all the information available, and to offer a helping hand and plenty of reassurance whilst you settle into your new family rhythm.

Essentially, I am there to take care of you so that you can prioritise bonding with your baby in those first tender weeks.

Postnatal FAQs

When should i book?

When should i book?

Some people book during pregnancy to ensure they feel supported as soon as their baby arrives, other people only realise they'd like the help once the baby is here (for example if they've had an unplanned C-section) so I'd say anytime during pregnancy or up to 3 months postpartum. I only take 2 clients at any one time so if you know you'd definitely like to book I'd recommend doing so in advance.
I am happy to offer ad hoc sessions if I have availability but my priority will always be pre-booked clients.

what happens in a typical session?

what happens in a typical session?

Each session will be tailored to your priorities and needs on that day - we’ll always start by checking in with how you’re feeling and what you’d most like support with. Then I might care for the baby so you can nap or have a bath, support you with breastfeeding, do some light housework, cook a delicious meal for you, discuss your postpartum recovery or offer a listening ear and reassurance for whatever is on your mind. Essentially I am there to provide a helping hand, evidence based information and emotional support in whatever way best serves you.

When and how often will you visit?

WHEN AND HOW OFTEN WILL YOU VISIT?

This depends how many sessions you'd like, who else you have supporting you and how soon after birth you envisage having support. I can be with you from day 1 if that is what you'd like or you might prefer to wait until your partner goes back to work. Before you book we can chat about your hopes and needs to make a postnatal plan but in general I'd say lots of families opt for a weekly visit for the first 6 weeks and then slowly taper off support as they get settled into their new rhythm.
