Never underestimate the importance of your pregnancy and postpartum support crew!

Yes its fun painting the baby’s room and buying tiny little cardigans but I highly recommend spending whatever time, money and energy you are able to into surrounding yourself with the best possible support during your pregnancy.

This was something that was extra important to me having been through a pregnancy loss, I was anxious and needed all the help I could get. So I hunted around, sought out recommendations and prioritised acupuncture, reflexology, hiring a doula, learning hypnobirthing and joining a super informative antenatal class.

As a result I was lucky enough to work with some of the most incredible practitioners before, during and after pregnancy. I would recommend them all 1000% to anyone looking for support, they are all worth their weight in gold 💛

Britta Woermann

Britta is a highly experienced acupuncturist specialising in fertility treatments. I saw her after my first pregnancy didn’t work out and I needed help getting my cycle back, she supported me through conception, the early days of crippling nausea and anxiety, and she helped me prepare for labour once we reached 37 weeks. Her wisdom, knowledge and empathy are invaluable on the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy.

Michele Misgalla

Michele is the kindest, most patient and amazingly experienced doula around. I honestly don’t know how we would have got through labour without her – we certainly wouldn’t have had the positive birthing experience that we did. Continuity of care is one of the most important factors during pregnancy and she was there for us every step of the way. I *almost* don’t want to tell you about her so that she isn’t fully booked if I’m lucky enough to have another baby. Everyone I’ve met whose been supported by Michele sings her praises and everyone who who wasn’t wishes they had had her. She also teaches lovely pregnancy and postnatal yoga classes in East Dulwich.

Sharon George

If you’re choosing to breastfeed I have to recommend the incredible IBCLC lactation consultant Sharon. I was very lucky to have a pretty straightforward time with breastfeeding and I really put that down to Sharon’s help. She came to see us the day my milk came in when I was already in a lot of pain from feeding and she helped us to nip any potential issues in the bud before they became a big deal. She’s also supported a lot of my friends through more complicated breastfeeding challenges.

Rachel Barlow

Rachel ran our ante-natal class and she is an actual angel – we were all trying to persuade her to get back to midwifery so she could help us birth our babies. She runs Gathered – a friendly, inclusive community you can join for meeting other parents, sharing your struggles and having a good laugh/cry and Carried which offers invaluable sling education so you can learn how to carry your baby safely and comfortably. I highly recommend literally anything Rachel offers!

Reflexology and Hypnobirthing

I am super passionate about both and relied on them heavily during my pregnancy. I offer reflexology treatments at Oru Space in East Dulwich or in the comfort of your own home and I run regular hypnobirthing courses online over Zoom. If you’d like any further info on either please get in touch.
